A Tribute to our Founding Member Glenn M. Burton.

Glenn Matthew Burton died on June 24, 2009. Glenn was beloved in the legal community. As an exceptional trial attorney, he was a mentor to many and a friend to all.  After graduating form the University of Florida in 1980, he attended Stetson University College of Law.  Glenn began his legal career at Green, Mann & Rowe, where he worked along side his father Dan Burton. Several years later, Glenn joined Shear, Newman, Hahn & Rosenkranz, P.A., and became a shareholder. There he solidified his reputation as a well-respected and accomplished trial attorney. In 2000, Glenn started his own firm now known as Burton, Beytin & McLaughlin, P.A. Glenn was Board Certified in Trial Litigation and AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He was selected as one of Florida's Super Lawyers each year from 2006 to 2009.

Glenn took pride in his service to the legal community.  Glenn devoted himself to working with the Florida Bar and served on the Executive Council of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar from 2002 to the present. Glenn acted as Secretary of the Executive Council from 2007-2008, Vice-Chair of the Executive Council from 2008-2009 and Legislative Chair of the Executive Counsel of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar 2008-2009. Immediately prior to his unfortunate passing, Glenn was proud of becoming the Chairman of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar. He trained attorneys throughout Florida in the art of trial advocacy, including serving as a faculty instructor for the Florida Bar's Seminar for Advanced Trial Skills from 1999-2009, including the Advanced International Advocacy Program in Oxford, England, and serving as Co-Chair of the Florida Bar Advanced Trial Advocacy Program from 2006-2009. Glenn gave numerous presentations in the field of medical malpractice, general litigation, and trial practice. He had many publications including chapters in the Florida Civil Trial Practice Handbook and created the first ever Florida Medical Malpractice Handbook.

To all that had the privilege of knowing him, Glenn was a true friend. He is deeply missed.
